We are prepared to embrace YOU . . . our precious pearls.  Let the sand caress your toes, let the warm sun brighten your spirit and soothe you as we invite you to partner with us as we serve with Excellence.

Our chapter was chartered in 1978 by a small nucleus of fifteen energetic women who understood the importance of fulfilling their vows to be of “Service to All Mankind”. Today our membership boasts of 60 college-educated women who implement quality programs that enrich the lives of families and individuals in our local and international communities. Our chapter membership consists of four active charter members, a former Cluster VII Coordinator, chapter members serving on international and regional committees, and diverse, devoted, and determined members.

It is our desire that from the images and information provided throughout this site, the Mu Iota Omega Chapter demonstrates our alignment with our International President Dr. Glenda Glover signature program of Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service. With the execution of our five international program targets:

  1. HBCU for Life

  2. Women’s Healthcare and Wellness

  3. Building Your Economic Legacy

  4. The Arts!

  5. Global Impact

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® was established on January 15, 1908 on the campus of Howard University in Washington D.C. We are proud members of the oldest greek letter organization established by African American Women.

I am humbled to serve as the 21st President of this Marvelous Chapter.  We thank you for your interest in Mu Iota Omega Chapter and your continued support is more than appreciated.  We invite you to visit our website periodically for updates regarding our signature programs, fundraising events, and international initiatives.

Yours truly in service,

Mrs. Utocqua R Grissett,
