What is Mental Health?
Mental Health is a state of well-being that enables individuals to cope with life’s stresses, realize their abilities and contribute to their community”.
What is Mental Illness?
Mental Illness is a medical condition that affects a person’s thoughts, emotions and behaviors.
According to World Health Organization (WHO) an estimated 1 in 6 people worldwide experience a mental disorder each year.
Approximately 26% of adults experience a mental health condition
Prevalence is higher among young adults (18-25) at 36.2%, compared to older adults (50+ years) at 13.9%
Women are more likely to experience mental health conditions than men, with a prevalence of 29.4% versus 19.7% respectively.
Mental Health conditions are widespread and affect people of all ages and backgrounds. The prevalence of these conditions varies depending on several factors, but it is important to note that they are common and can have a significant impact on individuals and society as a whole.
